By generating a highly-detailed, average daily food cost report, it is now possible to make informed decisions about managing the business aspects of the restaurant better. No more waiting until the next accounting period is done (often more than 30 days) to know whether the magic food cost number is being met. By the time that information becomes available the damage is usually done.

By entering the daily food sales number from the POS (point of sales) system, OrderSmart can compare daily food purchases against food sales. By keeping a running total of both numbers the system can provide accurate data on how close the restaurant is staying to the number it has set as an indicator of profitability.

This capability can be found in many POS systems - but they lack the knowledge of exactly what you are purchasing.
